Short Author Biography
Miss Jayne-Marie Barker Dip RSA

Born in May 1981, I grew up in Suffolk where my family remain and whom I visit every month. Following the achievement of my OCR RSA Diploma in Administrative and Secretarial Procedures in the summer of 1999, aged eighteen, I moved to Hertfordshire to pursue my career. I currently work as Personal Assistant to the CEO of one of England's leading tyre retailers. One day I intend to return to my hometown; but for the present I live in a small Hertfordshire town.

Aside from writing my other passion in life is dance, and I belong to two weekly classes; one being Ballroom & Latin and the other Brazilian Carnival Samba. My passion for dance is such that I am anticipating taking exams in Ballroom and Latin, fingers crossed I pass!

Our Brazilian classes are largely for pleasure but we do participate in a couple of festival parades throughout the year, not always close to home, and enjoy additional rehearsals and social events leading up to these. You'll find links to both these fabulous schools on the links page.

I write from the comfort of my living room early each morning. My passion for creative writing was initially excited when I was twelve, and I have enjoyed persisting with it daily. It has been my growing ambition to succeed into the bestsellers top ten for many years. I have a portfolio of many works, in varying stages of completion, but would consider my latest novel to be the fifth most comprehensive achievement to date.

My debut novel, Beneath The Daisies, was inspired by a dreamless nights idle thought. It was with an inkling of promise that I began the work in 2006 and since revised it three times into its current shape.

I know that I am a writer because I wake each day knowing I must toy with the delights of sentences. The magical effect you can create by stringing words together into one sequence or another never ceases to thrill me.

Any writing success I achieve is largely thanks to my consistent desire to write and my ever-supporting family, who I never wish to be without.
